A short break in which I do important things...

I haven't been eaten by a crocodile, I promise.  Nor have I been chased over the edge of cliff by a rampaging rhinocerous.  Though, to be honest, at times it does feel just like that.  But no, none of that, instead, I am trying to finish building a house.

Those of you who know me, will have seen the steady progress in photographic form.  Those who don't, well, we're ten months into the build, with another month to go.  It's a project which has been two years in the making and the fulfilment of something I've always wanted to do.  It has been stressful, exhilirating, creatively satisfying, frustrating, exciting and nail-biting. Toss an adjective at me and I can probably find a way to use it.

There has been a lot of biting, savaging and rending - but in truth, despite the inevitable aggravations, the wailing and gnashing of fangs, I have, by and large, had a pretty remarkable team. There have been loads of laughs and as we reach our conclusion, loads of oohs and aahs.

Lovely Architect has been the unrivalled star of the show.  The Project Manager, despite my ranting and holding two guns to his head over the last six months, has kept his sense of humour and his gentlemanly demeanour and has stuck to it and is delivering.  The Stalwart Builder and Foreman have kept their side of the bargain and their smiles, and have built a house that is solid and beautiful.  The Electrician knows exactly how to look after me.  The Stonemason is a sweetie of note and has done beautiful work at an exceptional price. The Roofing Guys have, well, put a roof over my head - 'nuf zed, eh?  Even Cool-SurferDude-PlumberGuy, who I'd periodically like to bitch-slap into next week, has done a good job - as far as I can see - I reserve my right to change my opinion if things start leaking or if there's no hot water.

So, as we gallop into the final furlong, I am busy, busy, busy

I am moving from interior designer to interior decorator.  I've gone from choosing taps and tiles and dreaming up cabinetry and staircases, to looking at sofas and beds and chairs. And, I am packing up a house in which I've lived for the past 11 years.  There is, folks, a shitload going on! Oh yeah.

So, if this blog is looking a little quiet, if things seem a little dull, trust me, they are not. It's all stations "go!".  And once I'm settled and we're assured the ADSL connections are working, I'll be back!  Until then, have fun, embrace the light fantastic and dance to the beat of that different drum.

I'll see ya on the flip-side.

Here's what we started with...
