2010 - and I wish for you...

New Year's Midnight Blue Moon - 00:00:00 - 01:01:10

2010 and I wish for you a year filled with
love and laughter
peace and harmony
success and good health
joy and enlightenment
friendship and good fun.

I might look back on the last year - and the past decade - and see dark places and difficult times. Equally, I might look back and see a time of tremendous growth, challenges and opportunities. Mostly, I look back and see a time of balance, of profound learning and personal growth. And I realise then, in the immortal words of Robert Frost, I stood at the beginning of the new millenium and saw two roads diverge in the wood and I, I chose to take the one less travelled by - and that, indeed, has made all the difference.

And so where to now, eh?

Onward and upward?

Whichever way the road goes, it will bring with it more of the same - such is life. The scenery may change, the weather too (no, I'm not talking about climate change!), we will change - for to stagnate is to die, the world will change, for change is the one constant we can always rely upon - and yet, in many ways, all will remain the same, our human nature and our inability to learn from the past seems to ensure that. It depends, I guess, on how you look at it - whether you view the world from the high road or the low road.

But whichever road each of us takes - I still wish for all of us the very same - which is all and only the very best of everything - always.

They said last night was a blue moon. Down here we had shear winds too - blowing both from the north-west and the south-east and a cloud sky planted by Johnny Appleseed. There was powerful magic afoot and in line with the moon's promptings I followed the moonsong - and look what happened... Shall I take it as a sign of a time of still greater creativity...? I hope so!

I started with the New Year's Blue Moon...

Decided it really wasn't very blue - and headed into the digital darkoom...

I then wandered to the lounge and stared at the tree lights and started to play with the zoom lens...

I wondered about the moon again... and this is what happened...

Then I played with the tree lights some more...to create silent New Year's fireworks...

And then got this...

And called it "Ripley's Ride"... If this is anything to go by, it looks like it will be one helluva ride indeed! I'll see you on the other side, then, shall I...?

Have a wonderful, happy and prosperous 2010!

Oh, Christ! I can't stand it anymore. I have to disappoint you. As far as I know we will change decade next year as this decade started in 1st Jan. 2001 and end in 31st Dec. in 2010.

Aw, thanks, Candy! :-)

LOL - no worries, Ropi - I'm not disappointed, I was kinda wondering about the decade thing but there've been so many news articles talking about "the decade" that I just followed suit! ;-)

My dear bloggy friend,
Wishing you a fabulous, fun and fulfilling New Year!

May the best of 2009 be the worst of 2010!

Beautiful! I have a photo program but do not seem to have the brains to operate it. If this is what happens, I shall try harder. Beautiful work of art.

Inspiring words with, it seemed, a touch of sad stirred in.

That poem is my favorite. The words run through my mind at odd times reminding me it is our choices that make a difference.

Wishing you a wonderful new year and may it be the best one yet.

yeah, I hate that confusing changing of the decade thing that feels so right but is actually wrong.

I love the creativity you showed in your 'blue moon' and 'fireworks'

My the rest of your year be filled as creatively and brightly.

Rob, that's a wonderful wish indeed - thank you!

Gail, get cracking in that digital darkroom, I'm sure you'll produce wonderful creativity!
It's funny, I also often hear the words of that Frost poem running through my head, along with the words "marching to the beat of a different drum" :-)

VioletSky, yeah, who knows, as my husband says, "it's just another day" - and I suppose if we live in the moment, what's another day, another year or another decade! :-) Thank you for your good wishes x

You too Vanilla and I wish for you that a huge publisher comes charging through the door and takes on your novel and you become as famous and as rich as JK Rowlins and they make movies as successful as Twilight and you can get out of SA and live happily ever after. Bit ambitious? Hell no! Happy new year honey bunny! @Ropi two people at the fireworks on NYE were arguing this point vehemently. Neither won! Haha!

An impressive post for an impressive blog. Superb images, and you could not have chosen a more appropriate poem. Enjoy 2010.

fabulous photos nicky.

I don't have any sense of really making a choice at the start of the millennium - but have similar experience really, of darkness and lights and so much growing and learning.

good wishes for the years ahead

I'm so glad I didn't miss this post...The Road Less Travelled has always been a great favourite of mine. And your artwork is just fabulous...I'm going to try doing something similar. Thanks for posting this awesome post to begin the New Year and I hope the coming year will be fabulous for you and yours!

Happy New Year, AV!

I'm a bit late because I was away for a couple of days. Computer-less.

Hope you've been well, and hope you get everything you've been wishing for in the coming year. Er, well, not that. I'm a married man! (Inspired by the verification word "protool"--I kid you not!)

Amazing photographs, I love the colours. I often wonder what will change in a new year, but I guess that's simple; we will.

Best wishes to you, CJ xx

What a beautiful post to start the year with. Happy New Year to you and your family!

Like you I was startled to see such an amazing full moon the other night. What a 'coincidence'. I have not recollection of having seen a similar moon on New Year's Eve or Day.

Many thanks for the fantastic photos and text.

Greetings from London.

I love playing, Lakeviewer - playing and creativity are the essence of life! ;-)

Awww, Baino - love ya! Couldn't have hoped for a better wish :-) We just have to add to that wish that when that happens I don't end up with a head too big to fit through doors! ;-)

Thanks, Dave, and thanks for the good wishes too! Hope you have a wonderful 2010.

I don't know if I made the choice consciously, Lettuce but I know it was made subconsciously - with a determination to rediscover and return to self. :-)

So glad you enjoyed the post, Marion and I hope you have many hours of happy playing in the digital darkroom!

Rick - you nut! ;-) Oh dear, well bereft of those gorgeous legs of yours I'll just have to carry on being a happily married woman! :-) Have a great 2010!
PS mind you don't choke on the maniacal cackling... ;-)

Thanks, Maria and may 2010 bring you all your heart dreams of!

I guess some of us will change, CJ and others not but the reality is that circumstances will certainly never remain constant. How (if) we respond to them will determine whether we grow or stagnate. xxx

Oh yeah, Sue, definitely - onward and upward! :-) xxx

Hope you have a wonderful year, Megan! :-)

I believe a blue moon on New Year's eve is extremely rare, Cuban, I did read somewhere about the last time it occurred - so yes, it does make it rather special!

Hope your 2010 is wonderful, Wolf!

How come I missed that beautiful poem? I heard the line of the road less travelled, but never knew its origins. Must look it up at google and learn it by heart!

Your blue moon photos are wonderful.

I attempted a few shots with a simple camera but the moon was too far away, and too deep inside were lunar waves, threatening to pull me under. I was overwhelmed with a high tide of moon; a deep sea of intuition and feeling within.

Thank you for this lovely New Year greeting and my belated wishes for a happy year.
