Tagged by Tessa for a Meme of the Moment

Tessa, over at Aerial Armadillo, artist extraordinaire, tagged me with the following meme. I’m generally a bit cagey about memes like this, but hey, I decided I may as well give it a go…

What are your current obsessions?

I’m not much given to obsessions – except perhaps when I’m writing...

Which item from your wardrobe do you wear most often?

Sunglasses... Jeans, cargo pants, t-shirts, loafers or trainers

Sunglasses, Cargo pants, t's and trainers

What's for dinner?

I’ve only just got past breakfast! But tonight – probably roast chicken.

Last thing you bought?

Do the groceries count? Oh yes, that aside, accommodation in Bath and changed airline tickets.

Bath

What are you listening to?

Doves cooing and the neighbour’s dog barking.

If you were a god/goddess who would you be?

Artemis. Don’t ask, it’s a long story. And I hope to evolve into Baba Yaga – or Granny Weatherwax – though I think they’re the same sort of goddess.

Say something to the person who tagged you:

Tessa
you are a wonderful artist and even though I know you miss "home", "home" shines through your work in vivid and colourful proportions. Keep rocking!

Favourite holiday spots?

The hotel pool, Mauritius... sigh...

Mauritius
Kruger National Park
Tuscany
London

The London Eye and the Houses of Parliament at dusk

Reading right now?

This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen
The New Earth by Eckart Tolle

4 words to describe yourself.

I had to ask D to answer this one, it seemed unreasonable to do otherwise. He said: “Vibrant, witty, passionate, stylish.”
I’d have probably chosen four other words like “creative, insightful, energetic, intuitive”.

Guilty pleasure?

Computer games and hot chocolate.

Who or what makes you laugh until you’re weak?

Good satire – like Pieter Dirk Uys last Thursday night. And classic, clever British sitcom

First spring thing?

Pul-lease – it’s autumn here, all I’m seeing are golden leaves – which means I need to get out there with my camera!

Autumn comes to the Buitenverwachting vineyards

Planning to travel to next?

England (London, Bath and York) and Spain – in May/June.

Staying with a friend who lives near here...

Best thing you ate or drank lately?

Large mug of hot chocolate – my own secret recipe… Shall I share it with you…?

Flower of the moment?

St Joseph’s Lillies – always. Gerberas, tulips, bunches of multicoloured roses.

St Joseph's lilly

Favourite ever film?

Stealing Beauty

Care to share some wisdom?

Everything in life is about perception.
Reality is mostly illusion.
Death is not an end but a returning to the beginning
Everything is one, sharing the same universal energy. We are, in effect, all “God”.
The glass is always half full – if you choose to see it that way.
The human ego is far too dominant, inclining us to forget our true selves.
The best thing you can ever do is to look at yourself in the mirror and say “I love you”, because if you can’t love yourself you can’t really love anyone.

And in turn I'm supposed to tag a few people - so here you go, if you'd like to do this one... and anyone else who'd like to have a go, feel free!

Baino, at Baino's Banter
Laquet at Chez Laquet

Yep, secret recipe please (although it wouldn't be secret then I suppose:-)

Thanks for the tag. I loved reading your answers and I think D is spot on:-)

thank you, thank you, thank you, this was great fun.

You do know baba yaga's house has chicken feet, yes? Here's my favorite baba yaga clip, for you and Atyllah: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQihLgaJDnk&feature=related

LOVE the Pieter Dirk Uys clip : "We laugh not because it's funny. We laugh because we're in charge." And the part about our biggest problems being caused by corruption and carelessness.

(You sure you won't be passing through Southwestern France next month? I'm just two hours away from the Spanish border, you know...) :-)

And now, back to sorting out the blogger mess at my place.

Thanks for the break, N.

best

Okay, I will post the secret (and it will no longer be secret) hot choc recipe in a separate post, Lane - tsk, the things I do for you! ;-)

I was going to tag you for this one, RL and then figured you had enough of your plate right now! I do hope you get that mess sorted with blogger.

And yes, I know Baba Yaga's house has chicken feet and she flies around in a cauldron! Off to check out the clip right away!

No, sorry, we'll be down in the southwest of Spain, hear Gibraltar. Maybe next time?! :-)

I promise to share the recipe of the increasingly unsecret hot chocolate, Carol! :-)

Artemis. Artemis. Artemis.

Hmmm... Somehow I think that someone with a passion for Greek mythology and an interest in the city in which I dwell now will make me default to her lair quite often.

Thanks for such a lovely insight into your life.

Greetings from London.

a quick note to say I've just finished running macscan on my computer and have found NO spyware on my hard drive; in other words, no one need be concerned about having visited my blog.

On to getting my blog reinstated. Will let you know when I'm up and running again.

Very nice. I especially like your words of wisdom. The last one is a definite truth; I've always believed that you have to like/love yourself first: "The best thing you can ever do is to look at yourself in the mirror and say “I love you”, because if you can’t love yourself you can’t really love anyone."
Another two of my beliefs are: a person cannot fix another person; we can only fix ourselves AND my happiness is not dependent on what another person says or does, I must first be happy with myself.
I enjoyed your meme of the moment.

I loved the answers; got to know you better. How about that chocolate recipe?

Had to smile when I read that you had nicked some of the photos! Loved your meme :D

Let me know if you have any free time when you are in Yorkshire!

My questions were different again, but that's fine isn't it.
Enjoyed reading about you though.
And love the new header.

Brilliant meme - enjoyed all the glimpse of the AV we've come to know and love!

And yes, I can picture you as Artemis - yes I can! Turned anyone into a stag yet? How 'bout Zuma - I think we'd all let the dogs out quite willingly.

The indomitable Pieter Dirk - wonderful memories! Viva Evita! Let's continue to bend over blackwards...

Thank you for taking up the challenge, Nicky, that was great. Yeah, rock on!

Absolute Vanilla (and Atyllah) said...

Well, then, looking forward to seeing you around a bit more, Cuban :-)

Well, if it's any consolation, RL, I've just learned from a friend that my blog is blocked in Dubai... I mean, really! Good luck with sorting it all out and yep, let us know when you're back up and Ms Christie is writing again!

Yeah, I don't know how that happened, Val, clearly the meme is a living thing and is morphing as it travels through blogosphere!

Yep, I have views about hot chocolate too, Storm, best ever to be found in France and Austria as far as I'm concerned! :-) Whoosh 27 degrees so early in the season? Yep, it will be a hot one - helloooo global warming!
And yes, do get yourself to Mauritius - and just laze and relax :-)

Oh yes, spot on with your words of wisdom, Lizzy, totally agree - and funny was just saying that thing about not fixing others to a friend today.

Chocolate recipe will shortly be forthcoming, Lakeviewer ;-) Promise!

Yep, well, occasionally I'm up for bit of piccie nicking, Milady, but I do like to say I'm doing it! :-)
We're only in York for two days and our time is going to be a bit hectic, got two friends to catch up with - would love to say hi otherwise, but if you want to mail me your mobile - my email is on my profile - I can try to give you a call when I'm there, who knows how time may pan out.

At least we know the meme is a living thing, Firebyrd, which is pretty cool, huh?
Do so hope Alex is doing better and has agreed to the scope. Thinking of you. xx

Aw, thanks, Tessa - nope, not yet turned anyone into a stag, yet, still practicing with turning them into toads...

Yep, Pieter is an icon, isn't he - so good to see him again - haven't been to any of his shows for years.

Ooh nice one. How can you drink hot chocolate and keep those legs so lean! I love lilies and bath and london too! I'll have to track down a litle more Pieter Dirk Uys, he's not known over here . . .as for the words of wisdom . . .well, they're er 'wise'. and I'm always happy to be tagged. I'll save this one for next week. Got the next 3 days pretty sorted!

I too am off to Spain in May but you know this as *pah* it means I probably won't get to London - still working on it!!

It's always fun to learn more about you Nicky. I love that movie too, thanks for the reminder, my copy is an old VHS tape, i'll have to look for the DVD now...

Loved reading your answers. And is that bottom half of a person really you? You're so cool!

Absolute Vanilla (and Atyllah) said...

The secret of hot chocolate, Baino is to use cocoa and not a lot of sugar - and then go to gym! ;-) Pieter Dirk Uys' primary character, Evita Bezuidenhout, is a little like your Dame Edna Everidge - only more satirical, I think.
Looking forward to reading yours! :-)

Well, I live in hope, Laquet! ;-)

Hmm, now you make me wonder, Lori, I think mine's on VHS too... I'll have to do a conversion.

Thanks, Sue and yes, it's really me - full image in my facebook photo album :-)

just wandered over to you blog from...oops, can't remember from where! Great to see some gorgeous photos of the Cape.

St Joseph Lilies are my favourite flowers too. And Bath is my favourite UK place too (tied with Cambridge!)

Great answers here, Van. I agree with you on Granny being a bit Baba.

Stealing Beauty is one of my favorite movies, too! Some fantastic acting in that film.

When do you leave on your trip? I'm so envious, must say.

As you know we witches is witches an' there's sense in godifyin' yoursel'.

I really enjoyed the Pieter Dirk Uys vid - very funny, very clever. I absolutely agree that the best way to fight corrupt politicians is to laugh at them. Ridicule is the best leveller for such people.
