Oh dear, short on words - mind far too occupied with next editing process. The last "big" edit was completed on Monday - I think it was Monday... where does the time go... So goal directed and utterly absorbed. Then I started the read through of the manuscript to pick up typos and such like. Ah, but cannot leave well enough alone, so I find I'm deleting more words, adding others in, pruning here, applying a little root grow elsewhere. It's got to come to an end, or like WH Auden, I'll still be editing long after the novel's published. How's that for confidence, eh - the bold assumption that this story will find a publisher. Oh yes, let's hear it for positive visualisation and affirmation!
But here I sit, in the middle of the morning, still in my jimjams, hair tousled, eyes focussed though perhaps a bit wild, totally away with the vampires, scribbling and then scribbling some more. Just had a new idea, another level of tension that might be added to the plot. Ah, but will it serve a purpose, perhaps, but only if the book turns into a series. Hmm, okay, so I'll put the idea aside for now - in the present context it will add nothing. But it's something to be kept in mind. Who knows... She dreams of the three, or four, or five book deal...
All right, so here's the deal - the bottom line is you're really not going to get anything sensible out of me today - so instead I'll share with you something from my playtime in the digital darkroom when I was taking a break the other day. What day? Don't know, days have been merging into a stream of words flowing together as I hurry towards my dream.
As you'll see from the images, I really am in a less than "real" genre at present...

Love the shots, especially the bubbles. All the best with the editing and priceless running commentary....if you published the blog it'd be a best seller!
I would like to read your books. Okay, I`m not a YOUNG adult, but I still like to climb trees. Can you name them for me, or did I just not look enough in your side- informations? I like your style, anyway. Don`t be over-corrective, just let your words flow as they come. You are good with words - and with your camera, too!
Ah, now there's a thought VV, publish the blog...
Hey, anyone wanna publish the blog???!!! ;-)
Angela, just as soon as I find someone to publish my manuscripts I would love for you to read them! I'm afraid for now though I'm still a "pre-published" author. But I'll get there yet! And thanks! :-)
Now those without the bubbles are pretty damn fine! (bubbles are alright but)I wish I knew how to Photoshop! Just laziness actually because I have the software on Clare's Mac. I actually think you've nailed a couple of pretty decent photographs there. Maybe I'm just feeling bright and summery but they're brill. And I'm with Angela, the first is always the best so don't get too critical. And don't worry, WHEN you're published, I'm buying at least half a dozen and one for my neice who's a tween but an avid reader!
I love the bold tropical colours - I drifted to Jamaica while I was looking at them - I was hearing steel drums and smelling mango and passionfruit cocktails … mmmmmm!
So aside from all that you're going a bit bonkers … join the club m'lovely. Get in line because the company is good and we have chocolate dacqueris and maragaritas!
Aw, ya doesn't like me bubbles, Baino, don't they make you think of a bottle of Moet then? ;-) By the way, I don't use photoshop, use a much cheaper package - but still fun! And thanks for the vote of confidence! :-)
Going a bit bonkers, Jane - nah, I've been bonkers for as long as I can remember - the sane act is well, just an act ;-) Now pass me a choccie martini!
Hmm... and you think I'm a mushroom head!
;-)
BTW: There is an easily obtainable piece of freeware (i.e. it's free!) called "GimpShop" that does most anything PhotoShop can do and is not too hard to get the hang of. It's a lifesaver.
oh yeah. Go positive, go!
Great shots, great color.
And word streaming for days? man oh man, all I can say is: may the Surf God of The Words be with you all the way, av.
amen.
I usually write in the evening.
That's some gardening with the book! :P
Loved the pics, your digital darkroom is a wonderful Neverland :)
I like what you're doing with the photos. Strange stuff, and genuinely interesting (to an old acidhead anyways;-).
And, you may not believe this, but I sorta envy you for the frenzy you're in; High energy, days running together, total preoccupation - sounds like your in a whirlwind of creativity. Feels good, no? In a way?
Ok, Nicky, that was quite a clear and wonderful post! And good, good editing luck, too! Talk soon...
I love those psychedelic effects on some truly great photographs. I particularly like the composition of a lit and framed Johannesburg. Good luck with the editing. It sounds like you are very nearly there.
these are great and fun - what a good way to find an escape
What's not to love about vampires? Those pictures are so cool!
Yeah, but Kyklops, the only shrooms I partake of are chanterelles, porcini, oysters and buttons! :-)
I've been using PhotoImpact and have been quite happy with it, but will look out for GimpShop!
Thanks, RLB - yeah, may the words last forever! :-)
I'm more of a morning person, myself, Ropi, though I guess that much was obvious! ;-)
The digital darkroom is indeed good fun, Sameera!
Oh absolutely, Decker the creativity feels wonderful!
Thanks, Susan!
I think I am there, TU, just got to figure out where to go next! ;-)
Nothing like a psychedelic escape, Lettuce! :-)
I don't know, Kat best ask the publishers, who I have just learned are now starting to turn away vampire books. Oh me and my timing! ;-(
Fun seeing what you're up to and I admire your positive attitude.
Go for it!
Thanks for visiting my blog! I saw that you have a lot of beautiful landscape and wildlife on yours.
Have a nice weekend!
Well, Jan, it's stay positive or slit wrists. Slitting wrists is messy. So positive it is! ;-)
Hi Maria, thanks for stopping by!
Seen you around, and then got here by black box.
Wonderful pics, really passionate colours, that made me smile, and think of hotter places than where I am.
vanilla, i'm so sorry about your awful publishing news - i hope you're still managing to maintain the calm and peace, at least with part of you...
Hello Love,
I've missed SO MUCH !! but nothing more than missing you, girlfriend. so you've completed the novel - yaaaahooooo! i love your stream of conscious editing: funny, sweet and oh so true - i'm positively visualizing a multi-book deal for you.
I have to tell you that I sat for a while holding my gecko with it's colorful beads and my gorgeous pewter spoon (now my sugar bowl spoon). I thought of you. I thought of your friendship. I thought of your warm and generous heart. I missed you. Then I carefully wrapped them before packing them away in yet another box. They will be following me wherever I go. When I hold them, I feel you.
Love the digital art - especially the houses !!!
xoxo
always
rdg /now rdm !
Hi Fire Byrd, thanks for stopping by - do you know, I have a pic of a firebird which I painted which hangs above my desk! Also wild bright colours! :-)
Ah well, Lettuce, that's how it goes - and it wasn't even if I was writing to/for a trend - just wrote the story that presented itself. Still, went within, focused on the internal and moved right along. It's all about choices, just as you said in your post.
RED!!!! - you're back! So good to see you again! Been gone too long, girlfriend! So glad you still have your little gecko and spoon! Have thought of you often - do drop me a mail sometime and let me know what's been happening in the Red World!
xxxx
