When it just happens

I love it when particular photographs "just happen" and then inspire all sorts of other "happenings".

I was trying to takes some shots of flowers in a vase last week when the wind tipped the vase over and I was left with splatters of water and a few petals...

And then a leaf from a nearby bush blew onto my canvas background...

Having taken dozens of shots, I finally tipped petals and water from the canvas and there was this...

Which made me pause and peer at the pool and a blossom which had blown into it...

And as I watched the blossom floated from the steps towards deeper water...

Sometimes "accidents" and spontaneity just result in such wonderful things!

As a photographer mysely I know only full well that sometimes the best shots are the happy accidents.

Hi!AV

It seems that Baino thinks you and I are in need of a little TLC. I'm in fine fettle and I hope this finds you recovering well also.

Nasty business dysentery - been there once and never want to go back! It'll take you some time to get back to full strength so be kind to yourself.

Now all we need to hear is that Baino is safely on the road to recovery.

I adore your pics btw. I'm married to a photographer so I know a good thing when I see it!

Barnaby and St John look like they were adorable characters. I'm no doubt that their loss will have left a HUGE void in your home.

Take good care,
Steph

Yes, the trick is being able to spot the beauty in the unexpected. Nice pics! :-)

Vesper said...

Wonderful, indeed! But without your eye for beauty and your talent, they would be less than that. :-)

I'm learning that more and more, Lehane!

Glad you liked 'em, Sameera! :-)

Hiya Steph - yep, I'm also waiting to hear if Baino is safely on the way to recovery, I do hope so! So glad you liked my pics - I do it for fun - I think doing things for fun is the best way of doing anything! :-)

Thanks, Shameless - I think it's about looking for the unexpected and just looking "differently" :-)

Thanks so much, Vesper - you're very kind and generous! xxx

some accidents sure are beautiful. These pics are so natural...! there lies the beauty.like sometimes, while working on photoshop and using one filter over another, beautiful fx are created! :)

I am firmly convinced that accidents aren't really accidents. They are exactly what is supposed to happen. Bad and good. Whether we think we know or not.

This a really nice accident, a beautiful accident.

These things are gifts that you have to be open to. I just love the pink flower in the water. It just makes me feel better to look at it. Often with me too, it's not the shot I think is going to be the best one that turns out to be the best.

Absolute Vanilla (and Atyllah) said...

Thanks, Pure Sunshine - and I know just what you mean about using photoshop or some other software and you just play and then suddenly... Wonderful, isn't it! :-)

I think that's a very valid point, Witnessing - the view that says there are no accidents, everything is as it is meant to be. And thank you, so very much, I'm glad you liked the images.

Absolute Vanilla (and Atyllah) said...

I'm learning, Colleen, that it's best just to be grabbed by something and see where it takes you. Sometimes the planned shots work but the exciting ones are the surprises!

nice picture but it is rare when something just happens

Kurt Vonnegut's favorite uncle had the habit of remarking amidst a heretofore unremarkable day, "If this isn't a good time, I don't know what is." And sure enough, it was so all along.
Thanks for the remarkable eye for spotting the extraordinary disguized as the mundane.

Splendiferous shots, AV! I love accidents, especially when they have such wonderful results. :)

It's great when things "just happen". But to know, recognize and appreciate ...well that requires talent.

Nice work !

Absolute Vanilla (and Atyllah) said...

I find things often just happen, Ropi - assuming of course that one is open to them and not busy trying to control one's environment :-)

Thanks, G&G - Uncle Vonnegut sounds like he was a smart man :-) The miracles are always there, we just have to keep our eyes open - or open them a little differently from the mundane vision.

Thanks, JD - I'd like to say it was all about magic ;-)

Aw gee, thanks, Dee!

Hi Vanillababy,
First of, I have not been around so I am sorry to hear you weren't well but ecstatic to hear that you are well on way to full recovery.
Secondly, oh I love your photos, it's your eye spotting wonderful things around you, accident or not, then your ability to turn them into even more awe-inspiring magic using your photo tools.
I will catch up with all your posts from where I left, in the next few days.
Also, my thoughts are with you and your lovely dogs, what a heartfelt tribute. Would you consider new puppies, not to replace Barnaby and St John but just to experience some more of that puppy love and get to know a few different traits and moods to giggle at.
All the best my friend!
Gx

All my pics are the result of stumbling upon a scene, already in place, that draws my eye to it. This is a fabulous sequence, gorgeous!

Glad you're feeling better!

I rather prefer Italian foods over Hungarians but they are still good.

I enjoyed being taken for a ride with your creativity leading the way. Funny how it just takes the observer to focus on an aspect of life to pull the beauty out of an everyday occurrence. Glad to be witness to your lens.

Great pics, AV. I tried commenting on the dog post, to say what a wonderful tribute it was to your best friends, but blogger must have been rather hungry. she ate my comment.

Hey Gaysome Gaye! ;-)
So glad you liked the pics, it was a fun half hour of spontaneity and adventure.
One day I do hope to get more puppies but with things being a bit up in the air as to where we will be in 18 months time, the timing of new dogs is not good. That said, I've just returned from a dog show where I spent a good while fussing the most beautiful Golden Retriever!

Thanks, Reya - I think stumbling upon scenes is the best way of doing things - more adventure. And thanks, yes, I'm feeling heaps better.

My favourite food is Italian, Ropi - but I save a special place for Austro-Hungarian dishes too. :-)

Thanks, Matthew, glad you enjoyed the ride.

Thanks, Kimy - and yeah, it's good to be back - still a bit worn but you can't keep a good Vanilla down :-) Hugs right back at ya!

Absolute Vanilla (and Atyllah) said...

Hey, your comment snuck in there, Saaleha - don't talk to me about blogger; having written the lengthy previous reply to comments, blogger gobbled the lot. There must be an imp in the works! :-)
So glad you liked the pics and thanks for your kind words on my tribute to my boys.

What do they say? There are no accidents. :-) Great eye.

Absolute Vanilla (and Atyllah) said...

Thanks, CS! :-)

Yep, I guess they do say that, Passionate Palate but then as Kimy says maybe it's all just serendipitous! :-)

Taffiny said...

Yes they do, how nice that you can see and capture them. Great shots!

Baino said...

Ha! Darn you Vanilla . . .I am just waiting for the 'sale of my creek' cheque next week and I'm buying that Digital SLR so I can spend my idle hours falling upon happy accidents.
Love the little heart shaped petals.

Thanks, I'm in fine fettle and back home two days early.

Absolute Vanilla (and Atyllah) said...

Thanks, Taffiny!

Hey ho, sorry Baino - inspiration perhaps? :-) Yeah, go get that camera of yours - I can't wait to see the magic you will create!
Soooo glad to hear you're hopme and feeling chipper - just take it easy, see! xxx

oh wow!! It all depends on you, how you make the best of everything, see the opportunity in every scenario.. these are beautiful shots!!

Absolute Vanilla (and Atyllah) said...

I guess if one just looks at something in a particular way, one can see the beauty and the mysterious in just about everything, Mystic :-)
I was at a dog show on Saturday and was petting some bulldogs - now that really is a case of gorgeousness in a what might usually be described as a not terribly beautiful package!
