Randomly Meme and a bit of a Writerly Meme

John from Country Don't Mean Dumb has tagged me for seven random things about myself. Here are the rules of the game:

1. Link to the person’s blog who tagged you.
2. Post these rules on your blog.
3. List seven random and/or weird facts about yourself.
4. Tag seven random [?] people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by posting a comment on their blog.

Hmm, so seven random things, eh... ummm...

1. I don't drink tea, coffee or alcohol but give me cocoa and I'm happy.
2. As a kid I spent lots of time hanging upside down off a trapeze bar which hung from a tree in our garden.
3. I was thrown out of art college for being over-confident. Ha bloody ha - aren't other people's perceptions wonderful things.
4. I am a dog person. Actually, more specifically, I'm a Golden Retriever person. In fact, I might be part Golden Retriever.
5. One of my favourite memories is sitting with my granny in her "bauernstube", drinking tea, eating anchovy toast and listening to her stories.
6. I once helped Santa build his grotto (my one and only foray into the world of "window and shop design").
7. When I was six I decided I was going to be the boss and an owner of a big company and sit with my feet on the desk. Well, I got the feet on the desk bit right, at least!

And now onto the tagging...

And yes, you're it!

1. Wanderlust Scarlett
2. Verilion ('cos she needs something to get her blogging momentum going again)
3. Moon Topples (because he's slipped on NaBloPoMo and clearly needs motivation)
4. Sameera
5. Canterbury Soul
6. Le Laquet
7. Rambler

I was also tagged for a meme by Monideepa a while ago. It was a writer's strengths and weaknesses meme. Well, I did the strengths in an earlier meme and it's over here.
As for weaknesses. I suspect my greatest is the same as a great many other writers.... Procrastination. I don't know what it is but there are some days when even mowing the lawn becomes more appealing and important than writing. It's bizarre, since I love writing and being in the flow of writing, and yet boy, oh boy, can I procrastinate. I suspect this might be because it links to another weakness, not totally trusting my muse, fearing she may let me down halfway through. Since I'm not a plotting and planning type of writer, writing is often a rollercoaster. I have no idea where the story is going and I think there are times when I'm just numbed into inaction. Strange, because I know if I just trust to the muse, the story flows. Yes, well, on that note...

I'm not tagging anyone for this, because most of you have already done the strengths meme, but if you want to do it, go ahead!

What a lovely, lovely list, Vanilla!
I know exactly what you're saying about procrastination. I'm in the same spot, unfortunately. :-)

Very cool, Abby.

Being tossed out of art college reminds me of being tossed out myself (that not going to class thing).

Oh well, all in a life's work, huh. :)

Great stuff here.
And agree with you re " other peoples perceptions"...

Bad business, this procrastination, isn't it, Vesper, not being well doesn't help any either!
:-)

Yep, I relate completely, John ;-)

Yes, other people and their perceptions, Jan - ho hum. As someone once said, "someone else's opinion of me is just that, their opinion." :-)

Looking forward to seeing your memes, Sameera! xx

Hanging upside down - well, that answers a lot of questions!

You shouldn't have. Really.

No Tea? Ah, I can't imagine life without a cup of Earl Grey in the morn. :)

How 'bout mocha? It's a culmination of coffee and cocoa.

I totally understand procrastination. I waited until this morning to write a 3 page essay on poetry. It took me a total of an hour to complete. And, it is A+ worthy. :)

Fantastic meme, V!

Yes procrastination for me too though fear of a non-trustworthy muse also ranks up there. I like the memory of your granny--I feel warm just reading it.

PS I -love- the picture again, you need to open up a Vanilla Gallery.

And what questions were those, Ms Minx? Huh? Huh?

Oh but I just had to, Scarlett ;-)

I love the confidence, JD - you go for it and get that A+++! :-)
Nah, I'll pass on the mocha too, just gimme the cocoa! ;-)

I keep meaning to do a post about my granny, Matthew - now that I've dug out some really lovely old sepia toned photos of her from when she was about 20.

Ha, Vanilla Gallery, eh, Scarlett - the joke is, there is a gallery just down the road from where I live, called... Vanilla Gallery! And I have nothing to do with it!
Right, off to check out your randomness ;-)

Wasn't I here yesterday? I don't recall this post.

What is a ____tube, that one sits in with one's granny?

Enjoyed your answers.

In art school, it was suggested in sophmore year that I change majors, (from illustration to graphic design) because my work was considered too primative (a.k.a badly drawn), I felt devastated and hurt, but refused (I had no interest, and certainly not any more ability in graphic design).
During senior illustartion portfolio review, my teacher told me I had one of the strongest portfolios. I took great satisfaction in that moment.

Procrastination is my thing, though apparently I must share it with so many of you.

I think I trust my muse (when it is around) it is me, I am not so sure about. My muse likes to play catch, passes me the ball, and I drop it, or it hits me in the face, or I miss it entirely. So that is what I fear, fumbling.

the strengths and wekanesses of a writer.. :), I so identify with that.

And as well, isnt it the struggles and frustrations, even as a writer that give us an intesity?

I didnt used to drink tea or coffeee, but it was alst winter I got addicted to drinking pots of masala chai, perhaps my way of compensating for the cold, and now I am trying to kick that habit.

I hope little bear will forgive me and still like me even though said I'm not it!

I will play on your 7 random things and maybe john will read this and still like me! ;)

1) I drink tea (though only herbal), coffee (caffeinated ONLY) and alcohol (mainly wine although I do enjoy an occasional pint of guinness)
2) I still like to hang upside down
3) I was thrown out of high school on numerous occasions (for activism against the viet nam war and wearing shorts - can you believe that?) but some how was seen as a model student in college!
4) cats, dogs, mice, rats, dolphins, rabbits, goats, sheep, etc. guess I'm just an furry animal person - well then there are the birds!!
5)a favorite memory is playing under the quilting frame of my nana until she would call to have me thread a needle.
6)don't think I ever helped a santa
7)when I was six I was into 'peter pan' (as played by mary martin) and would fly from sofa to chair and drove my parents to distraction!!
