Mother's Nature's Colourful Dresses

This week it's mostly going to be a visual feast...

Every year in spring time the west coast of South Africa bursts into bloom with a riot of colours unimaginable. It doesn't take much to realise spring has arrived. And anyone who ever said you couldn't wear pink with yellow or purple with orange should take a peek into Mother's Nature's wardrobe...

Gorgeous! Spring is good! so you've got Summer to look forward to now?

Absolute Vanilla (and Atyllah) said...

Yep, we do indeedy, Jon - and thank goodness after this long, chilly, very wet winter with snow on the mountains the whole way through - which is unusual. Yeah, gimme sunshine!

How deeply odd... I left a comment for Mystic Rose and blogger appears to have eaten it... And now I can't remember what I said... Sorry, Mystic - I think it was something about it being a place of staggering beauty mixed with astonishing crime and violence. An unhappy juxtaposition.

I do like that big orange flower and the blue one, I quite like the yellow one too!

The orange one is my favourite out of all the close up shots V. Tomorrow I'm doing sea and beachscapes - wild blue stuff :-) (there goes the bandwidth again...)

Absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing these with us. The last one, especially - oh my, to somehow sit among those flowers and watch the sea - pure bliss!

Very pretty . . .we're a little behind you methinks although it's starting to blossom and the Dawn Chorus is up at 5:45! . . .The wildflowers are really lovely with the sea in the background. True about the strange juxtoposition sadly.

"a place of staggering beauty mixed with astonishing crime and violence.."

indeed. that is so sad to hear though.

beautifull, waiting for more pics from you.

Well, I had in mind Vesper to lie flat on my back in the middle of that colourful riot and gaze up at the sky - but then I figured I'd squash too many flowers and I didn't want to do that ;-)

Hmm, dunno, Baino, the first robin start singing just after six - perhaps he's just a laid back dude :-) Yep, the juxtaposition is an unhappy one.

Thanks, JD - armed with my new camera I am having soooo much fun!

Thanks, CS - there's no beauty quite like nature's own.

It is sad, Mystic Rose, deeply tragic - and so unnecessary.

More pics coming this week, Rambler :-)

Ahhh, so refreshing. I can hardly grasp that you are entering spring and we are ending summer. Such a topsy turvy idea.

wonderful, beautiful pictures. thank you. ahhhh, the colors of flower, sea, sky and hills....

although I don't believe in engaging in regrets, I do regret visiting my sister when she lived (for 3 years) in capetown. oh well, she's now living in lusaka and maybe if the gods and goddesses smile on me I'll be able to visit here while she's there!

thanks for the armchair vacation and sharing spring with us in the northern hemisphere!

Those are some great pictures!

Lovely pictures. Very clear too (I bet you use a digital camera). I can't remember when I last saw a field full of flowers like that. I remember passing a field full of red poppies once though. I think I should probably try and get out more.

Wow. Just lovely.

As our summer is ending, our evenings getting a slight chill, our autumn just around the corner, it is nice to see spring again. Your images are lovely. I especially like the first one. The beauty of the violet, of colors extending up, the soft background. Lovely.

Enjoy your spring, Ms. Absolute Vanilla.

Saaleha may your garden be blessed with heavenly blooms!

You want to know how weird it is to have Christmas in the blazing sunshine, Colleen - now that really is a topsy turvy idea :-)

Glad you enjoyed the armchair vacation, Kimy - and yes, you should have visited! ;-)

Thanks, Strugglingwriter!

Well, it's a view I've decided to take after that little spree, Steve - to get out more. And yes, it's a digital camera - my new baby and I am super chuffed with it! :-)

Thanks, Scarlett. When the flowers are in bloom the air smells of honey - quite delicious!
