Mauritius - Another hellish day in paradise... Part One
Chickens and other humans have been known to travel - particularly to places that delight the senses... Enjoy the scenes from a recent holiday. Personally, I'm hoping to go back soon - preferably yesterday.
View from the hotel lobby... It's hell, I know
Mauritian east coast - views over sugar cane plantations
Tree roots snaking along the Black River in the Black River Gorge
Mauritian Tortoise have a slow and languid snack...
Ah, sigh, sunset over the west coast and Wolmar Beach... So endeth a hellish day in paradise.
Wow! I am very impressed with the photos, AV (&A)! The picture of the sun sinking neath the waves is brilliant! I love sundowns, especially when the light is soft and the shadows stretch out across the landscape, ornamenting picturesque scenes of their own.
Did you go to the horse races, while in Mauritius? I love horses. :)
Hot and humid and totally delicious, Jon - and of course, not a smart place to go in hurricane season :-)
Given that it's not too far away from South Africa, Vesper, it's a fairly accessible holiday destination - and yeah, pure hell indeed :-)
Of course you do, Baino :-)
I often wonder, Onipar what it must be like to live in a place that is fundamentally one season all year round - think one might get too much of a good thing!
Nah, that's no mutant tortoise,Stever - that's one laidback critter - and it wasn't the largest one there - the big one is unsurprisingly known as Big Daddy - now he may be a mutant... :-)
Trouble with holidays like that, Rob, is you can never get enough.

I have an epal who's father is from Mauritius (she's British), I now get why she's so crazy to visit her "home country" one day. :)

Did you have a blast? I bet you did. :)
Lucky you...
Yep, Silver - it's beautiful. And the people are warm and friendly too.
Thanks, JD. No, didn't go to those famous horse races but yes, did have a blast. :-)
Yep, I am one very lucky puppy,Rambler - I know that.
Oh.
Wow.
And you are there, with all that beauty, and you've stopped to blog!
Gah! Some chickens.
Hey, thanks for visiting my site. Looks like you had a wonderful holiday - such beautiful photos!
Yes, well you know how it goes, Cheryl too much human fuckwittage spoils all that beauty for a mere Novapulsian Chicken.
Nothing like a tropical beach for beauty and relaxation, Soph :-)
Looks like a wonderful place! Probably a bit hot, I should imagine. :-)
WOW! Hell indeed, for the rest of us who haven't been there... :-)
Absolutely superb - I'm glad for you that you spent time in such a place.
Biatch! And I mean that in the envious kind of way!
Wow, I love those pictures. It makes me actually not want the summer to end, even though I love autumn.
Sun, sea, sand, mutant tortoises. It sure looks like hell to me. I'm jealous.
Oh man, I need a vacation.
Love the tortoise shot...

Ha ha Vanilla, you may have been to Mauritius a million times, but I HAVE been to the Horse Races ;)
A million times, V - don't I just wish!
More times than me then!
